Meet Our... Nail Polish Creator - Sienna Byron Bay

Posted on 15 July 2016

Nail polish is the best way to dress up hands and even in winter we're sans-gloves, just so we can show off our fashionable fingers. Even more en vogue is wearing a nail polish that is environmentally loving and the people behind the Sienna Byron Bay brand have worked hard to ensure that each little bottle of perfection is animal-cruelty free and made with sustainable and natural products. Even the wooden top, which defines the look of these bottles, is recycled, hand crafted wood. Yippee!

So, we weren't even aware that cute, little beetles and scaly fish were used in nail polish and if you want to read more here's the full article on what makes nail polish vegan. Intrigued to learn more, we spoke to the owner of Sienna Byron Bay to find about how it all began and what we can expect to see in the future.

Tell us how you started your business and why?

It started with A LOT of research. (As you can imagine) All the tables in the house ended up covered nail polish and it’s still there! It’s a beautiful reminder of the beginnings. I wanted to offer a unique polish in my then planned mobile nail technician business so I started playing with my own formulas and it grew from there.

What is your favourite product and why?

The top coat. It’s so versatile, you can wear it on nude nails to make them look shiny and clean or over your colour to give it that salon finish!

What’s special/unique about your product?

It’s local. Everything we do is about being as local as possible. We depend on our community always so we wanted to make sure we were giving back by using local services.

How do you choose all the colours?

Haha, it’s so hard!!! I have to cull so many and I always hate that part of the process. I want to have every single shade available..

What’s new for your business over the next twelve months?

More new colours, and more new, creative collaborations.

Where’s your favourite place to go in Byron Bay?

Clarkes Beach, The Pass, The Lighthouse walk; anywhere really, as long as I’m with friends!

What’s your favourite time of year in the shire?

Ooooo…. A favourite? That’s so hard! I love Easter and the buzz around that time of year. It’s cooled down a touch and the amazing Bluesfest is on, it’s a highlight of my year for sure!
