About Perth

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia and is the fourth most populated city in Australia. It is a wonderful city to visit and boasts a huge new sports stadium and lively arts scene. Perth is a laid-back city built on the mouth of the infamous Swan River, which leads out to the Indian Ocean. The suburb of Fremantle is located where the river meets the sea and is full of charming cottages and a lively music scene. Some consider Perth more expensive to live in than other comparative cities, largely due to the mining boom which made prices increase, but this is beginning to change as the dynamics of the city begin to change.

The job market in Perth offers a wide array of jobs making the city an attractive place to settle. Not only are the employment opportunities plentiful, it’s also a great place to raise a family. The city has the largest park in the world, aptly named Kings Park, which is actually located within the city parameters. It’s even larger than Central Park in New York! Having a climate so suitable for outdoor activities makes the park a popular place to visit for both visitors and locals. Other popular places to visit include the Aquarium of Western Australia, Fremantle Markets, Perth Mint, Bell Tower, and many more. Not to mention that there are all sorts of events going on in Perth throughout the year.

You’re probably wondering where the best places for shopping in Perth are too.  Try Claremont, Subiaco, and Cottesloe for both high-end and thrift shopping. If you’re looking to get out of the heat (Perth can be hot and windy in the summer months) the largest shopping centers are located in areas like Garden City in Booragoon, Centro Galleria in Morley, Karrinyup Shopping Centre in Karrinyup, Westfield Whitfords City in Hillarys, and Westfield Carousel in Cannington. Perth has a buzzing foodie scene with some of the best spots located in Maylands, Leederville, Bassendean and Victoria Park.

As if Perth wasn’t already amazing, the city was once the home of many notable Australian talents. Heath Ledger heralded from Perth as well as Paige Butcher, Dacre Montgomery and Melissa George. Must be something in the water!
