The Northern River's markets are known for their variety and quality of locally sourced produce. At the farmer's markets you’ll find the very best fresh produce, farmed locally and often grown in organic conditions. As well as an array of fruits and vegetables you’ll discover other Byron Shire specialties, such as freshly squeezed cane juice, macadamia nuts, honey, artisan bread and Ballina prawns.
The Byron Bay farmer's markets are held on a Thursday morning 8-11am and the Bangalow farmer's markets on a Saturday from 8-11am in the Bangalow Hotel carpark. Both are run by the Byron Farmer's Market Association who work with with local farmers to ensure consistency and quality of produce sold.
The New Brighton farmer's market is held each Tuesday, whatever the weather, from 8-11am. Located at the New Brighton Oval the market is a short 20-minute drive north from Byron Bay and is a popular shopping spot for locals in Ocean Shores and South Golden Beach.
The New Brighton farmer's market is organised by a team of volunteers who encourage residents to support local farmers by purchasing local produce. The produce is fresh from the farm, so does not travel nearly as far as conventional supermarket fruit and veggies. As well as organic fresh produce, you can pick up locally and ethically farmed meat, fresh nuts, home baked goods, olives, free-range eggs and dairy products.
Mullumbimby farmer's market is held on a Friday at the Mullumbimby Showgrounds from 7-11am. The market features an exotic range of fresh produce as well as a tasty selection of breakfast options accompanied by live music. It's a great morning out.
The Mullumbimby farmer's market is a vital part of the unique, local community. The market has 50 plus stalls - 13 of which are certified organic and all are owned and run by local farmers, bakers and foodies. Don’t miss the wood-fired artisan bread, sweet local honey and sustainable local meats.
The Mullumbimby Farmers Market is an excellent way to experience the spirit of Mullumbimby and is located just 20 minutes from Byron Bay.
